The BEST thing about this 7 game series is that we had MORE time with Ernie, Kenny, Chuck, & Shaq!! I'm gonna miss these guys over the summer😢 Miami DESERVED to win cause they played with more heart & better execution!

The Heat faced the Celtics - a deep team clearly built for the star players but very disorganized and inconsistent. Now they play Denver - also a deep team clearly built for the star players, but more consistent and organized enough to withstand performance dips.

People were saying Phoenix will beat Denver, then LA in 5, now they are disrespecting the Heat. As a Denver fan, I don’t think playing Miami is a cakewalk. They are resilient team with enough talent and great coach and unbelievable culture as an organization. I hope Nuggets bring their A game as they will need it.

I have to give the edge to the Nuggets but at this point you can’t underestimate the Heat they play great basketball. It’s gonna be a great Finals I hope.

I'm sorry but this is probably a sweep or to 5 games at most, this Heat is not built for these Nuggets. I think they could have been a handful for LA but not Denver. Bam goes from a top defender to almost a liability, and just overall not enough size or athleticism: too many players (Mal, MPJ, Jokic) that the Heat don't have real ways to guard (I mean, how?).
Malone will probably tell the Nuggets to focus defense on chasing the Heat's shooters off the line and not overreacting to how heat like to set up shots from kickouts, just chase these guys off the line. Heat doesn't shoot well with active contests and I don't see how even Bam and Jimmy having amazing nights in the paint will outscore a complete offense that cannot be stopped. If they do it, it'll be 1 game, and there won't be another win in the series.
Im very happy for the Heat and Im not even a Heat fan. The NBA has much more parity now and its made the game more exciting to watch. Im enjoying all the new superstars in this new generation. Less ego and more teamplay. I think players like Jimmy and Jokic are great examples of what todays superstars are like. They are giving hope and relevance to non-stacked teams. They show us how great teamwork and great leadership can beat anybody they play. Jimmy said tonight " I dont call them role players, I call them teammates". You gotta luv the guy. GL to both Heat and Nuggets. They are making the NBA a much better league to watch.

It has parity but only on the west. Unless something drastically changes in balance they need to get rid of conference based playoffs. Sacramento, GSW, Phoenix, Clippers all beat everyone on the east in 7 game series.

I feel conflicted because this was my dream match up at the start of the playoff. Either Butler or Jokic getting a ring would be awesome. The only problem is, one of them will go home emptyhanded and who knows when they would be back. Hopefully it's going to be a 7 games series down to the wire. Either way, some history would be made. The lowest seed to win the ring is currently the 6th seed Rockets of 1995 with Kenny, or this could be the Nuggets first ring.

I remember when my Blazers faced the Nuggets in 2019 and it went to a game 7. We did win that series but I remember thinking “Oh my God. This Nuggets team has all these players locked up for years. They are gonna be the team to beat one day soon”.
I don’t love the Heat but in this series, I’ll be rooting for them.
I watched that series from my place in Denver and thought the same thing. I knew they had something special cooking.
I have loved Jokic's game for years and always thought if Murray could be more consistent, they would be a force. Zach Lowe was the first to say it at the start of season that Denver was a sleeping giant.

This is going to be a great Finals. I pick the Nuggets in 6 because Jimmy is going to have some great performance but I feel this is Joker's time to shine.

Miami will be a joke against the Nuggets who score 1.17 pp against zone defense which is by far the best in the NBA. 1.1 is hyper efficient. 1.17 is almost unheard of. Lotta dumb money jumping on their new favorite bandwagon. Series will be over in 4, maybe 5 if the Heat can muster a historic effort and win a game

Have to agree with Shaq. It’s never easy. Nuggets have never been in this situation before, and a lot of unknown factors. Jimmy Butler is scary. Plus playing against the Barkley curse. Hope Denver can make it happen ❗️
The best thing about this finals is that someone will get the respect they deserve. Butler who was seen as a problem in other teams or jokic is underappreciated as MVP. Someone will get there respect that is long overdue

The biggest concern is the Heat stealing Game 1, since the longer layoff may cause the Nuggets to come out flat. If the Nuggets can shake off those cobwebs and play their usual game, they will take Game 1 and then Game 2. I think the Heat, at home for Games 3 and 4, can win one of those games. But I have the Nuggets in 5 because they are just better and don't have the weaknesses the Celtics showed in the Eastern Conference Finals. Fun series coming up, at least for Nuggets fans! 😎
That's how I see it too and basically same as last year's Finals with Boston and GS. If Miami steals game 1, they can push it to 6 and make things interesting. Otherwise, it's probably over in 5.

This also happened when everyone was so hyped up that whoever wins the Philly/Boston series would have a free ticket to the Finals. And then Game 1 and 2 happened and all that momentum backlashed so hard for Boston that the Heat took Game 3 just from that. If the Nuggets lose 1 game at home, they better think fast because the Heat is that team.
Have not been this excited for a finals series in years, real basketball, real talent, both teams hungry for it and the best of the best on both sides. This is what basketball used to be before everything revolved around Lebron and markets
Heat started the playoff playing against the #1 team in the east, now finishing it against the #1 team in the west. That's gotta be a great addition to the story IF they win it all.

The Nuggets have Murray who is averaging 28 pts 5 rebounds 6 assists in the playoffs. Murray and Jokic are the best duo in the league.
And the Nuggets have the best player in the NBA, Jokic. The Nuggets swept the Lakers 4-0, and Lakers are better than Miami. Miami is 0-6 against the Nuggets the past 3 years. It’s a bad matchup for the Heat. The Nuggets are younger, longer, taller, and faster. The Heat will win 1 game if they are lucky.

@Javier Silva I think Nuggets won last 7 games and most of those games they didn't even have Murray and Porter Jr and most of starters, Jokic beat them even with bench players. Adebayo has been one of Jokic's favorite costumers for a long time.

Spurs fan here, and this Finals will be a dogfight, but I have to root for the Nuggets because Jokic reminds me of Timmy in how humble he is, and how he just goes to work every game and remains that silent killer.
A worry for Denver could be rust. Game 4 against the Lakers was a week ago, add another two days, that's 9, basically 10 days as it's a night game. The Heat played a tough series, but tonight wasn't physical or mental. They do have to travel all the way to Denver and deal with the altitude. Denver has a perfect record at home during these playoffs, but they've also played well on the road, getting one in Minnesota, one in Phoenix and obviously two in LA, against an in form Lakers team. Those three opponents were playing really well down the stretch of the regular season and during the playoffs, and the Nuggets didn't panic and played their game. Not every game was great, but they play team ball and their defense has improved this year, plus they are healthy. The Heat will not be a pushover, and they have road toughness and this will obviously give them confidence, especially after a tough loss in game 6. As Chuck and Shaq said, the Nuggets are more complete team and they are more talented, but the Heat are dangerous and in many ways they play as much as a team as Denver does. I don't see a sweep, but the Nuggets are the favorites. They have to be careful at the start the series, IMO.
I beg to differ in the starting 5 you Gordon Porter Jokic Murray n KCP...Jimmy Caleb BAM Strus n Gabe...bench you have Duncan K Low Highsmith n K Love ...Denver has Brown Green n Braun.... now if you Tyler Herro to the bench Miami has an advantage in ability and Talent... Miami will be tired though with only 2 days of rest, and they'll have to play at altitude in Denver. That cancels out the rust factor imo
I just don't think 'rust' with professional basketball players in the playoffs of all things is a real thing. It's not like Jokic and the gang have just been sitting on the couch eating chips. The mere fact the Heat just won a grueling seven game series would give me pause more than the Nuggets getting some much needed rest before the NBA Finals.
this is the Finals matchup that real basketball fans want. 2 well coached teams that play unselfish basketball. neither team has won before (not this iteration of the Heat) and both have likeable star players. i want Jimmy to win but i would be happy for Jokic too. i'm excited for the series.
Miami has had a crazy run but I think the reality of them being an 8th seed going against the best team in the league will bring them back to earth. If they would’ve swept Boston then maybe but they went up 3-0 and let them come all the way back to tie. Denver will not be that undisciplined.
What dude the best team in the league is the Bucks and then the Celtics. The third best team was the 76ers who were defeated by the Celtics. And then Nuggets at 4

As a heat fan it gives me great joy to see just how wrong chuck was about the heat. I believe he said we were horrible before the playoffs and doubted us every series. I love chuck but I’m so happy to see how wrong he’s been about the heat all post season

From where I'm sitting, Miami/Boston, was a great series, going 7 games makes it tough to turn around and play the Nuggets, Denver needs to be wary of losing that first game due to rust, time off can hurt, I'm looking forward to a great series, my pick is Miami, My Two Cents!
History will be made in this Finals. Either the Nuggets get their first chip, or the Heat become the first #8 seed ever to win it all.
I'm rooting for the nuggets, but it will be fantastic to see either jokic or butler win their first ring, because they both deserve it. Win/win situation for me, because both dudes are worth rooting for.
As much as I like the Heat, it will be very tough against the Nuggets. The Heat zone defense won’t work against a guy like Jokic. He will feed cutters or go one on one against Bam. Jokic Murray PnR against Vincent and Bam will open up so much for the Nuggets that I honestly can’t see the Heat stopping that. I really hope that it will be a competitive series. As of now I would say Nuggets in 5. The first game will be crucial for the Heat. Maybe the Nuggets will be a little rusty after the break.

chuck was spot on, nuggets shot horribly the whole series but unlike the celtics they had jokic who remained consistent every game and led them to victory along with jamal murray
As someone who’s played a lot of basketball in New York City, FYI, Division I, high school, the Cage, and at Rucker park. I’ve seen a lot of basketball in my life. With that said, I’ve seen how back in the old days the bad boys of Detroit will play physical and brutal. However, has anyone ever notice how Miami started hurting people playing dirty, nasty and getting away with fouls with Gianni falling down on his back, Knicks center getting pocked in the and in game seven Miami player moving over and sticking out his leg, so Tatum falls on it and twisting his ankle. Plus a whole others I guess that’s all coincidence. As Miami coach Erik Spoelstra says, “his players are crafty.” I would hate to see a team as demonic as Miami playing so dirty, and getting away with it. I guess karma will come to them someday. Long live basketball and long live the Celtics and this is coming from a New Yorker.
PS don’t be surprised if somebody from the Nuggets gets hurt really early.

Denver is deep and big but imo if The Heat are going to win they have to shut down Murray as much as possible. If Bam can hinder Jokic like Draymond did then they’d be in great position but even if Jokic gets 30? If they can slow down Murray and the others they’d be good. Miami has the guards to bother Murray and if they can make Jokic work and still score on their end they have a shot. They’ve also been to the Finals before, Denver may be tense.

@Bronzeandsteel Oh for sure. Definitely a hard working team! But not losing a 3-0 lead to the CELTICS is much more important to me than winning a championship. If we lose to a great team like Denver I can't even be upset. If we become the only team in NBA history to lose a 3-0 lead, I can't live that down.
Nobody expected the Heat to beat the Bucks. They did that in 5. Nobody expected the Heat to beat the Celtics. They closed them out on their home floor by 20. Now nobody is giving them a chance against Denver.
Be careful dismissing this team. They are a group that has great chemistry, plays tough defense, and believes in each other.

They were not underrated at all, they barely made the 8t seed so they were rated accordingly. Nuggets on the other hand were the most disrespected number 1 conference seed in NBA history, totally underrated and trashed. ranked 6th-7th by everyone to even win their conference in playoffs and they should get their revenge.
I'm not certain, nor have I heard this mentioned, but how many players on both rosters have a ring, if any? Both teams will be hungry for the taste of the title. Gotta agree with most here that Denver has the edge, being well rested and ready, but can that create a cold spell? Probably not since they hit the gym everyday for practice since sweeping the Lakers. Miami is riding a high winning 3 of their 4 games in Boston, but could that hard fought 7 game series have worn them out for this final one? I don't see that happening either. Miami will be hyped up big time on nothing but guts, determination, and sheer adrenaline just to be there. This is gonna be epic. Ain't no sweep happening though it wouldn't surprise me to see Denver up 2-0 going to game 3. Miami will win game 3. That's as far as I'm thinking ahead lol
Honestly both the Nuggets and the Heat have been slept on during the playoffs as well as disrespected. I think we can all agree on that.
I think Denver wins in 5. Miami may have been playing well away in the playoffs, but I don't think they can win in that altitude. This Nuggets team are the best team in the league in terms of talent and depth and they have the best player in the league. On top of that, they have the ultimate homecourt advantage in that altitude. The lack of depth will hit hard for Miami and they will be dead tired by Game 3.
And Nuggets had rest. If they do not come out cold in game 1 I expect it to be win in 5.

@Kay A The Celtics choke a lot. They have been at the receiving end of the nastiest buzzer beaters in recent years. And they're incredibly inconsistent. If you are a contender, you will still find ways to win even if your shots are not falling. It's just not the case for Boston.

The shooting percentage is what would concern me if I was the Heat. I have no rooting interest in this series, I hope for an entertaining finals...but there's one certainty: if a team shoots over 55% in a series, it's not possible to beat them 4 out of 7, and the Nugs shot 58 and 59 in the regular season matchups. That's a problem.

The Heat have no chance going up against Denver, that’s a completely different beast. The Nuggets have a system that requires discipline. They’re not gonna beat themselves, and Jokic’s size against Adebayo is going to be a problem. Bam cannot afford to get himself into early foul trouble defending him in this series
Jokic is going to turn Bam into a chew toy this series. It's ultimately going to come down to guard and bench play, and whether the Heat can handle playing at altitude after going 7 with Boston after they were expected to close things out in 4-5.
I feel like Denver can beat the Heat in 5. But I don’t know if a long break is going to do them good. They might come out rusty the first game. Wanted Celtics to win since they have a bunch of bodies to throw at the Nuggets and most importantly Robert Williams would have been a problem. Jokic is going to destroy the Heat💀
@FJO 9 the problem with Celtics team is inconsistency. They beat themselves up and the reason why Miami won game 7. The way they’re were playing today was not going to work against the Nuggets.

The problem with the Nuggets beating the Heat commentary is that the Heat believe they can win just as much as Denver believes they can win.
I’m a Denver fan and this is the most frightening team to see them play. Miami is just the kind of team to win against teams they have no business winning against through pure power of will.

Miami will get obliterated against the Nuggets who score 1.17 pp against zone defense which is by far the best in the NBA. 1.1 is hyper-efficient. 1.17 is almost unheard of. Lotta dumb money jumping on their new favorite bandwagon. The only frightening about this series will be how much money sportsbooks and smart money take from the public. I'd be betting this even if it were -1000

Denver is going to have a much harder time with Miami than they would have had with Boston. I think think the Nuggets will win in 6, but Boston would have been a gentleman's sweep at worst, sweep more likely.

Whats deadly about the Heat is that they have few glaring weaknesses, everybody can shoot drive and all that AND add spoelstra to that mix and you have one tough team. The Nuggets may have more talent but are they the better team?
