Jimmy was always meant to be in a Heat uniform. He definitely will go down as one of Miami Heat’s best players in history without question.

I think people forget that Butler missed 2 games last year in the ECF. I think if not for that, it's a good chance they would've ended up in the finals. Butler's ability to lead and extract the best play from the others is remarkable. Also, you gotta give major props to Spoelstra. I'm really enjoying this year's playoff scene. It's been great for basketball.

The Mavs were the third seed. Miami are the 8th... Don't get me wrong, what Dirk did that season was nothing short of legendary. But if Jimmy and the Heat can actually pull this off... Probably one of the "greatest rings" ever won, in any sport

As a Celtics fan, I was worried going into this series because I saw what the Heat could do and I knew they weren't to be ignored. I've just been blown away by HOW good they were. It's going to be really hard for us to dig ourselves out of it, we're a good road team so I think we'll take Game 3 in Miami and from there it'll be a competitive series, but it's really going to be hard. Miami is a solid team and they deserve to make it to the NBA Finals if they can finish us off. A lot of respect to them coming from where they did, the Play-in and even losing to Atlanta when everyone wrote them off, and getting this lead in the Conference Finals. Let's see where it goes from here.
Boston is good enough to win both in Miami. But now the task is to beat Miami 4/5......and that's tough. Butler gets all the press, but Martin won that game tonight
As a heat fan I think Ime would have had far better results for the celts. I think it’s an extremely unfair coaching matchup. Was waiting for that rematch and will never get it
@VonJayexactly. Mazullo's coaching inexperience is showing. The heat are playing in a system that's getting most of their shooters going. But Boston is still so heavily reliant on Tatum and Brown. And it doesn't seem like Mazulla runs any plays to make life easier for the 2(not that I've seen)

There was a couple times this game I thought Boston might run away with it. The Heat are different. They have a mental toughness that's rare in this modern era of basketball. I saw the Suns pretty much give up after getting down to the Nuggets. The Heat could have easily packed it in and been happy to go home with a 1-1 tie.
With that said, I need Bam to step it up. I love the aggression he came out with but he missed a lot of shots near the basket. If he starts to make those consistently, the Celtics are going to have a hard time.
No the Celtics are already having a hard time. If bam plays better they're done. I mean they might be anyway. But for sure if bam ups it and everyone else stays good
It's tough when Bam needs to play Horford and Williams alone. Big Man Zeller needs to step up more. So it's Bam has played like a monster, but he needs help

Kenny Smith made the most salient point here. Notwithstanding that Brown has been awful, and Mazzulla is clearly over his head, Boston's auxiliary players are getting outplayed by Miami's. There is no way anyone thought Vincent, Martin, Strus, and Robinson would punk Horford, Smart, Brogdon, and White.
You add the spectacular play of Jimmy, and his clutch hoops all playoffs long, and this Heat team is much better than they appear on paper. Butler and Spo's leadership is also vastly superior to Tatum and Mazzulla. Now that doesn't mean this series is over but Boston has no chance if Brown doesn't show up and Smart and Horford are useless in their offense. They can't iso ball with Tatum and win 4 times, not happening.
Err maybe you need to credit Heat defense strategy? They neutralize Brown for 2 games, the more consistent player than Tatum. Then, smart, horford, brogdon, white follow soon, because they're mostly role players, can't take over games when needed

As a Celtics fan, MASSIVE props to the Heat for making Boston uncomfortable in the perimeter with their defense. Spoelstra really is one of the top tier coaches in the NBA.
Every team that lost LeBron changed coach except the Heat. Speaks volumes about how good Spo is.
Exactly why my pre-season call was Celtics vs Heat and Heat win to go to the Finals: basketball fans super underappreciate how critical coaches are especially in the playoffs. No first year guy coaching the Celtics is going to be up to the task against Spo, no one since Kerr would have been.

Still don’t think they have enough to beat Denver but Butler is slowly becoming one of my favorite players. The way hehandles himself off the court and in interviews, and plays on the court is awesome. I think he needs another star like Joker has Murray but I really like the Heat. Would be an interesting landing spot for Dame if they chose to move him.

That 1995 series between Phoenix and Houston was awesome. one of the best game 7’s I’ve seen. Chuck had 23 rebounds against Hakeem. effort was unmatched.
Chuck went through a period of Men on pause tgere last night, when he realized that the Celtics got Whipped. He was silent for about 5 minutes before he said, "I was stunned",😂😂😂

That was a fantastic game 7. I think the series Kenny/Chuck were referring to was the '94 series though where Phoenix went up 2-0 in Houston. Regardless, to turn around in '95 and go up 2-0 again (this time on their own home court) and lose the same way must have been brutal

Completely disagree with Charles that game 3 is a must win. I actually think him pushing that mindset on his team led to them being deflated and losing to Houston.
The goal needs to be: win *one* of your home games - 3 OR 4. All you need is to win one. If The Celtics storm back with a win the next game, you cant let that zap the team's confidence. You need to say, "Okay they took this one? Well we're taking the next one"
This playoff season has proven why coaching is so important. Just because you have the best group of players doesn’t mean you’re going to win. If Ime was still coaching this team, I don’t think they’d be in this position.

@kid melo no I don't. Jimmy main complaint was about Brett brown and Ben Simmons and to a lesser extent embiid. They didn't pay Tobias over him. He didn't want to stay and bailed. That's why the sign and trade. Jimmy got a bigger contract than the heat could give him if he left and the sixers for at least something back for Jimmy.

Now I understand why Pat Riley chose Spoelstra over Lebron. Spoelstra is an excellent and way underrated coach. He double team Tatum in the 4th while the Celtics Head Coach let Butler played one on one and run rough shot over whoever was guarding him.
That’s a wrap. I don’t think there’s any chance of the Celtics coming back in this series. This Miami Heat team is too well coached, and they just are the smarter team right now in this series

As a heat fan, I need us to act like we down 0-2 heading back to Miami. We gotta apply the pressure that we know the Celtics can’t handle. Game 3 is a must win to not drag this series along. I’ve said it before if we go up 3-0 it’s a sweep or game 5. But if we lose game 3 it’s going to be game 6 or 7 series. We gotta deflate any hopes in game 3 for them. Come on spo and jimmy bring it home at home!!! But it’s also the supporting cast they play like they have been and I have no fear in this series.

I do think this Celtics team is weak mentally. They're gonna try their best to win game 3 and if the heat deny then my guess is they fold up like a cheap lawn chair. But if they win? They may regain some courage and confidence. And become tougher to beat.

Part of the playoffs is just getting more rest. The Heat have played a lot fewer games than the Celtics and had a couple more days rest after their last series than the Celtics had. Just being the fresher team is usually good for one win in a series. The Heat have a real chance to sweep going home up 2-0, while I do not think the Nuggets win both games at LA. That said, Nuggets have a great starting five who are all in their prime and Jokic and Murray are the real deal guys who can just decide they want the Nuggets to win now. Heat will not beat the Nuggets on the boards either, so baring the Heat shooting over 50% from three like they did game one against the Celtics, gonna be very hard to beat the Nuggets.
Look at Denvers depth, Brown, Gordon, Porter, Murray that team is tough match for either Celts or Heat.
@Polo Don and yet Miami posts legitimate depth in their own regard. It's time we stopped looking at their draft positions and start looking at them for their skills. Caleb Martin came off the bench and outplayed jaylen brown tonight. Max Strus and Gabe Vincent are more players who are huge on both ends of the floor for Miami. Even Duncan Robinson came back to get minutes and give you efficient scoring off the bench every now and then. kyle Lowry and Kevin love are former champions. And above all else, if the bucks couldn't contain butler, something tells me that once Gordon is off butler, he'll feast. If butler and jokic can cancel each other out, Miami needs to neutralize Jamal Murray. TLDR: So basically, Miami has maybe a...3% chance of winning? Oh wait...

When playing a team with one focal point (Embiid) that has an ego Boston, found it easy to defend. Now though they play a team with no egos 5 men for the team, a leader who steps back and makes his team play. The results thus far 2-0 Heat. Caleb Martin absolutely balled out, and may it be said Tatum and Brown have shown thus far the dawg is asleep within them or it don't exist.
Game 1 and Game 2 had the same story. Celtics were up during the 4th quarter and little by little the Heat just WONT GO AWAY. They kept up and every time the Celtics scored they still kept coming back.
Then Williams just HAD to jaw at Jimmy Butler when they were ahead. Could not help himself. Jimmy does not need extra motivation and he just did that. I won’t be surprised despite his performance if the coach just DNP CD’d him again if he does that in game 3 😂

The Heat want this. They want this way more than the Celtics do.
Just make those shots as difficult as possible and the few jimmy misses you need those rebounds he's 1 of the best ISO in the league and he's clearly hungry and put in an unbelievable amount of work this year to elevate even higher his playoff play is incomparable rn. Philly crapped the bed and gave it to Boston even though before that series started I was taking Boston. Philly should have closed it at home but I truly believe jimmy and the heat would have beat Philly or even Boston in 5.
